Continuing with the never ending references to fascia, here is Thomas Myers demonstrating and explaining the special features of the body's Tensegrity from muscles, bones, nerves and fascia.
Thomas Myers' work as a Manual Therapist, and his research involving human dissection and living fascia, as well as many others, has led him to develop the concept of the "Anatomy Trains" - Continuous fascial tension lines that support the body through multiple intersecting and interacting "trains" or myofascia, in conjunction with the muscles, bones and nerves.

After studying Rolfing and Thomas Myers' work on my own for years, I was priviledged to have the chance to study with him in person last year in his home town on the East Coast of Maine, USA.
He believes (as do I) that not enough is taken seriously in the main stream about the developmental needs of a healthy body. If a body is not being used, and muscles and bones are not being stressed, the integrity of the entire system becomes threatened, and long term health consequences and chronic pain are the result. We can clearly see these examples in our daily lives.
I am not one to cry doom or panic about these issues, but there is absolutely no doubt that healthy movement and healthy structural development are essential to proper functioning and peaceful operation of our complex systems.

I am honored to have had the chance to spend time with Tom in his hometown in Maine, and to continue to carry forward his teachings about fascia and the body, and his organization of this dynamic new field of Spatial Medicine.
